Author Topic: Recruiting artists for development of a java game.  (Read 1710 times)

I am developing a java game for browser and possibly android play and would appreciate good support for this project as I have not done anything since graduating besides being a lazy ass and working at a stuff store. I suppose such things were made for eachother, but no more! I shall not condone the partaking of stuffting my life away and thus am making a game.

I will not go into too much detail but to give you a picture its in ways like a cross between Peter Molinoux's Populous and several other sandbox games and RTS's. I want to approach this stylized with a theme that is adaptable to multiple cultural groups while looking consistant. An Idea I had for the art would be that living beings were made up of like single strokes almost like brush strokes but very solid and such.

If you are interested please post an image of a scene with multiple people and at least two varieties of animals, some terrain, foliage, and buildings. I am currently planning on it being either faked perspective 2D or some interesting cross between 2D and 3D. But please no modeling submissions.

Thank you very much for your help on this and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Sounds interesting, but I don't understand well enough what you're trying to convey when you speak of the art style you have in mind. Do you have any visual examples or could you explain that point in further detail?

Ok so the main idea is to have simple shapes to create detail. Sorta like stencil images and such. I'm not able to make an image like what I am trying to think of right now but yeah I would like to see people's take on it in case they have a better idea in mind than mine.

By what you mean 2D and 3D, do you mean 2.5D?

Can you try making a person sorta in the style of Unwritten Calender's one, more scene looking with like more stuff in it?

"scene looking"?

Like with the guy doing stuff, I think.

Hrm, would be nice if you could give an example of the visual style you have in mind.
I'm having a hard time picturing what you mean.

So this isn't pixelart?

You want them to look like humans?  Or does it not matter?

Actually I have been revising the idea for how things look. Ill post again with an example of the new style I thought of that would work, I hope :P

If we help, we'll get credited... right?

Because if you end up selling it, I'd prefer my real name be used.

This definitely looks interesting.
By the way, is that the crab of ineffable wisdom? Just wondering.
