Author Topic: Swimming (Or how I learned to stop my aquaphobia and start working out)  (Read 1600 times)

Recently, I've taken up a sport, Varsity Swimming. Apparently swimming is actually one of the best exercises that you can do for your body. It puts very little stress on joints, it works on aerobic muscles, and it is a great sport for any age, gender, etc. Honestly, I think it's a great sport, even though I'm a bit out of shape. I compete against myself to see if I can beat my times. I recommend taking swim lessons before joining a team or swimming seriously. So share your opinions on this sport / exercise.

I took swimming lessons when I was around six. Then I stopped for some reason.

I did this pretty much every day in the summer. I've always loved it and I'm a good swimmer but I couldn't compete. My favorite thing to do was cannonballs from the roof.

I miss summer time.  :(

So far I <3 swimming, as if it were my most favorite hobby.

You're scared of Hydralisk?

You're scared of Hydralisk?

hydrophobia: the fear of rabies (or something like that)

OP might mean aquaphobia which is the fear of water.

You're scared of Hydralisk?
oh god you better be loving kidding lol

You gotta eat a stuff ton of food if you dedicate yourself to it, otherwise you'll run outta energy really quick.

I love swimming, but if I swim every day for a week, I get this weird rash on my legs :C

I learned to swim at 2 1/2 years old, it was one of my favorite things to do at lakes, now I live in a stuff hole with no water
and I'm forced to swim in public pools where people piss in the water, cut in line at the diving board, and cry because "THE WATERS TOO COLD WAHHH!" if you aren't going to enjoy swimming don't come to the pool, and if you are bringing someone along with you then you need to make sure it can control its bladder, keep its body heat, and at least motherloving swim.

where people piss in the water

I don't think I've ever NOT peed when I went swimming.

Bump... fixed the title

I take a stuff ton of vitamin B12 before swim practice...

50 free: 25.2 seconds

that's the only one I'm particularly proud of since I started at like 37 when I began swimming last year.

I've dropped like 30 seconds off of my 100 free but it just went from bad to ok so w/e man :p

I'm pretty bad at every other stroke :/

I can't swim, that makes me a seascrub.
