I would tell them "green " looks like newly-mown grass smells.As an Artist of 28+ years, you may try describing a color by using emotional feelings, what it may feel like to physically touch it, sense of smell. Green as an example; cool to the touch, Smells clean and fresh, Makes you feel...energetic and happy. It gives you the sense of renewal.
