I found this quite interesting. So apparently there's these new things called LED cubes. What they are is cubes filled with hundreds or thousands of LED lights. The LED lights are arranged in a three dimensional shape and turn on/off according to animations.

Apparently this stuff is mainly in Japan. Of course.
Really this is as close to holograms as we're ever gonna get. We just need to make the wires between the lights less visible.
