So what the forget.

My mother was complaining about how she was at my grandfathers house and his computer was infected with stuff. She said they were going to get it cleaned professionally for $80, and I was like nope.jpg and said I'd do it. But, my uncle who lives with said grandparents is a registered love offender and any repairs done on the computer had to be done by a "registered professional."
Here is the phone conversation I had with my grandfather

Me:"Hey grandpa whats up"
Gp:"Nothing much Chewwie, just picking up some paperwork from work and heading home, what are you doing?"
Me:"Calling you. Mom said you were having computer issues."
Gp:"Yeah, it keeps getting all these errors and pop ups, then it just freezes. We were going to get it repaired but we just decided to get a new one and destroy the other one with a blowtorch"
Me:"Your going to destroy an infected computer... with a blowtorch..."
Gp:"Only the hard drive, seeing as James with his situation and all"
Me:"Uhm, why don't you send it to me? I could fix it for free and give you an antivirus"
Gp:"Well with all these legal obligations..."
TL;DR on this: Can't do it cause I'm not registered computer worker.
Gp: "So we just decided best to get a new one and destroy the old one so it wont come back to haunt me or anything, heh"
Me:"What are you going to do with the rest of the tower?"
Gp:"Well, junk it I guess, nothing else to do with it"
Me:"Why don't you send it to me without a hard drive."
Gp:"How would I take the hard drive out individually?"
Explaining how to computer hardware...
Gp:"Alright, Chewwie, I'll get the tower to you next time I'm in town"
Me:"Thanks"

TL;DR:
Grandparents computer was virused and they were going to blowtorch it. I said no and now I get a computer that ran windows 7 so it will be better than mine, minus the hard drive.

Discus the topic and why they think its the hard drives fault.

Is your grandfather a child enthusiast?

Re-read, ok. You're uncle is creepy.

Uncle got into some bullstuff with niece, surprised us all.

"Aww forget, Granddad! Your computer got a virus! Can you fix it?"
"Pass me the blowtorch"

Registered love offender...
Destroying Hard Drive...

O HM I WUNDR WUTS ON IT

Also, it doesn't really matter that it ran win 7 if you don't get the hard drive.

I put Windows 7 as a reference of hardware, system requirements say at least one giggle bite of ram required, I have 512 megs DDR2.
(I do not know the specs of grandfathers computer)

No, they have to scan it like madmen because of his legal condition.

What if they find something ;o

Not likely, its locked down like a school computer.

So what I'm thinking of doing is getting a cheap hard drive from Newegg and run a server off my old computer. Neat.

Think on the bright side, I'll be getting a good computer soon!

-snip-

You know the formula. Comedy = the elderly + computers.

No, DDR2 as in the ram type. Its up to DDR3-1833 now
