Are you kidding me!? That was just some dumb, predictable action/adventure movie.

Predictability in movies isn't a deal-breaker for me.

Okay. I have some GREAT sci-fi movies. A little out of your time range, but there good.
Metropolis
Blade Runner
I'll bet you've seen Blade Runner.

Yep, Harrison ford was GREAT in blade runner.

seen metropolis as well, great movies.

Wow. Not may people watch movies from the 20s.
I respect that.
I really should watch Logan's Run shouldn't I?

I dunno, you've seen event horizon, right?
maybe Silent Running?

Neither.
I am really behind on my movies.

There's no such thing as a good movie that's been made in the past 10 years.
lord of the rings :C

That's based books written in the 50's. So it doesn't count. You're right. Fricking amazing.

Oldies, but goldies are always better in my opinion. Graphics alone doesn't make a movie great.

Just to name a few good ones I've seen growing up.
Older Star Trek movies (usually people like the even numbered ones better, just FYI)
Stargate
Enemy Mine
The Fifth Element
I, Robot
Galaxy Quest
War Games
Wing Commander
Earth Girls are Easy
Heavy Metal
Explorers
Waterworld
Tron/Tron Legacy
Hitchhiker's guide to a galaxy (BBC is more complete, remake only covered half the book)
The Last Starfighter
Serenity
My Stepmother is an Alien
Starship Torrpers
Planet of the Apes
Tank Girl

I was the only one in my family that liked Source code enough to watch it again :/

Tree of Life is a good movie, though I'm not sure if it's sci-fi or not. Just a warning, the movie isn't for everyone. The plot line gets really complicated in such similarity to Momento.

You know what where amazing sci-fi movies? The original War of the Worlds and the Time Machine.
