So if chain breeding works the way I think it does could I in theory pass storm throw from throh to a pangoro to bidoof to clauncher to binacle?
the reason being a sniper pokemon with an always crit move like storm throw can pump out roughly 135 damage if my calculations are correct without the help of items

I don't think just any move could be passed so I'm going with no.

Anyways, started making my new team.

I'm turning a Trevenant into my defensive tank.

It will have Harvest+Sitrus Berry, be EV trained in Def and HP, Impish nature.

Moveset:
Horn Leech
Will O Wisp
Phantom Force
Rock Slide

I feel like this is a bit too aggressive for a tank but I can't think of another move set, and with Rock Slide it allows it to hit Ice, fire and flying.

Any suggestions? (Horn Leach I prefer over Wood Hammer because it lets me steal hp back)

Edit: Considering replacing Will o Wisp with Hone Claws/Protect.

will o wisp burns. burns lower attack. you're maxing defense. that will leave physical attackers nearly useless against you. special attackers do not get lowered offensive stats, yet you still use will o wisp on them.

what I see happening is a gengar coming around and smashing the living stuff out of it with one shadow ball if you don't put something into special defense. Same could be said about ice beam-ers.

Hone Claws has only one conditional situation where I can see it working, and that's in the case of a switch out. Ultimately, I feel honeclaws is better than will o wisp. Protect is practically just stalling, and without something happening while you're stalling, then it's a wasted slot.

I'm guessing if you maxed its stats at 50, they'd look like this.

hp 192
att 112
def 140
spatk 63
spdef 92
spd 71

that special defense is going to bite you so hard.

ultimately, this is your choice to make. A defensive wall is great, but a tank is better. Covering all bases is where it's at.

I have a Cradily that will be my primary Sp Def/tank as it's got good Def and SpD. If a Gengar/Fast Ice Beamer (primarily Greninja it seems) got sent in I'd be switching out to something else, Trevenant isn't exactly going to be my tank for Def, he's in a weird spot. I'm going to be using him to switch into Physical attackers, maybe get a Hone Claws in and decide what to do from there.

I was hoping it did, was disappointed to see it didn't.

what I do want is to have golurk have shadow sneak

I decided to give Trevenant 52 EVs in SpD rather than maxing out it's Def EV, it puts it's SpD past 100 which sounds a bit better for tanking than full on Def.

forgetin
then how does chain breeding work

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The way you described it was right, however not every Pokemon can learn any move that a Pokemon in it's egg group has.

I assume this is for balance because this would mean most Pokemon can get most moves otherwise.

imagine a power trick deoxys

Okay basically I want to move a move like frost breath or storm throw onto a pokemon with sniper ability
how do i do this if it is even possible

The way I check is by going on Bulbapedia and checking what Pokemon have Sniper, and then seeing if they can learn frost breath/storm throw.

As far as I can tell, this is impossible for both of those moves.

You're referring to getting a move from one Pokemon through another one.

Like if for example Magmar couldn't learn flamethrower and the only way to get flamethrower on it was to breed it with Cyndaquil, but it also couldn't learn it, so you'd need a Chimchar that could learn it, breed it with Cyndaquil and then breed that with Magmar because Chimchar can't directly breed with Magmar and have a baby. (Purely made up obviously but you get the point)

Am I correct?
