So, I got a 2DS and Pokemon X over new years, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The last pokemon game I legitimately played was diamond so I wasn't really sure what to expect. So far, my absolute favorite feature is pokemon-amie. I cannot stop shoving cupcakes into my Plusle's face; It was worth $130 just to flippity-flop that cute lil' forgeters eardangles. I cannot explain how pleased I am with the quality of the game, holy stuff. This game alone has gotten me fully back into Pokemon and Nintendo as brands.

This pretty much describes how I felt after playing the game the first time. I hadn't played Pokemon since FireRed/LeafGreen.

Pokemon-Amie is also incredibly useful. Pokemon get an experience bonus if they like you enough, plus it's cool to see the trainer call out words of encouragement. I always thought previous games were too impersonal.

I am not sure if I should hold back on playing Pokemon X and just stick with Pokemon Y for now to look for something to let me record gameplay, OR just say screw it and play Pokemon X.  I know my starters will be 2/3s the same as Y (Torchic and Charmander will be the same.  6th gen starter was Chespin.)  But I am wondering if I should take Froakie or Fennekin as my X starter...hmmmm...

Did I mention that I used Yveltal while beating the Elite Four and the Champion?
