I think pokerus is just a simple trait that some pokemon have. I don't think it spreads. Although I could be wrong.

Well they are entirely different Pokemon....it's purely dependent on what your team is and what it lacks/needs.

Well what is kingdra's purpose on your team? Greninja has no room for tricks since it can't take hits so unless you plan on using a speedy offensive guy over your kingdra i implore you to reconsider

Well because there's too many posts to quote I was looking for just a water guy and kingdra fills that respect with nice typing and some water moves
if there's a better guy then I'd like to know about it
but I do have a strict no-legendaries policy

Also a new grass man would be nice because venusaur is nice and all but I feel like I could be doing much better

I absolutely refuse to use legendaries, it seems completely unfair.

But if you're using Greninja for a water type alone...erm, I don't mean to sound like a richard or anything so please don't take it that way, but you're probably building your team wrong. The tactic I use for clearing the game (and it sounds like you're doing the same but it wont work going against other players very well) is having as much coverage as possible (like being able to do tons of damage to any type Pokemon with at least one Pokemon). In player matches things are set up differently because they can get past that tactic with ease.

(I don't tend to battle competitively online)
Bisharp- Glass cannon, common crits (high speed, wide lens, all increased-crit moves)
Greninja- Water guy.
Venusaur- Grass guy
Infernape- Fast fire guy, has thunderpunch and brick break along with some other fire stuff.
Gardevoir- Cleanup and destroyer. High special attack, moves like moonblast and shadow ball.
Hawlucha- General rough and tumble guy. Fighting and flying moves.

I sometimes fight with my friends but I do like some variety
I might start some online at some point
