Author Topic: Are zombies half dead or fully dead?  (Read 5022 times)

Yes and they frighten me.
We are trying to figure out what they are so they don't frighten you anymore.

Well then, we have the right to take zombification seriously now.

Well done. I think those spores with ant special interestes would be the cause of zombification.

:)

We are debating if zombies are half/fully dead, we don't care if they are real.

Why would you have a picture of him in mid-speech?

Welcome to quick-google.

Watch zombies be  real, but completely different than fiction. As in, they are harmless corpses reanimated and they never die.

According to The Walking Dead, the only functioning part of a zombie's brain is the brain stem, being the central nervous system, etc etc. No memories, thoughts, or otherwise. Only smell, and sight. I doubt they have taste, either.

So essentially, the zombie is not brain-dead, but it's organs are all but shut down. The virus in The Walking Dead focuses on keeping the brain stem, and heart alive, all other organs don't matter as much, the only other one is the heart.. That's why in the second or third episode, you see a zombie with no legs, stomach, and exposed ribs with most-likely punctured lungs moving and pulling itself toward the protagonist.

I conclude that they are only alive in the brain and heart, so technically alive, but not able to reason between what we call "right and wrong", they have no memories, dreams or thought. I'd say half dead.

I think all organs except the heart are shut down, because if a zombie is shot, you see blood fly out; that wouldn't happen if the heart wasn't pumping out blood. According to an Anime series called Highschool of the Dead, the zombies aren't functional if you obliterate their brains.
I'd say half dead.

They are dead but an infection or element 115 or an alien parasite or whatever is the thing in the game you play reanimated them

According to The Zombie Survival Guide, it's some kind of virus that shuts down all organs except the brain. Then it alters the frontal lobe and creates a new organ out of it, leaving the host zombified, or something like that. I don't have the book right now, so I'm not entirely sure.

I say as long as the brain is functional they're alive.

Zombies don't have blood flowing.

In World War Z, it says that all the organs shut down, and all the blood is replaced with this black stuff. The only thing that is controlling the zombie is the brain itself. So that's why you aim for the head.

Why would you argue about something that doesn't exist yet? In my opinion, you're both right AND wrong, because there's no proof to say otherwise.

Zombies don't have blood flowing.
Oh stuff you're right
Idiocy strikes again

That's what I was thinking.

From                Status
L4D2                Alive (mutated)

Halo                 Half-alive (controled by parasites)

Half Life            More parasites

The Walking      Half-alive
Dead

All nightmare     Dead
long video

Resident evil      Dead (as far as i know)

The Walking Dead zombies are dead, it says they die from a fever, and then a parasite runs only the motor skill part of the brain.
