Care to back that up with some reasoning?

Its not like getting the top rated comment is a big leap in your youtube career, or something. It doesnt really matter to me.
I've got a top comment about three times. One was on a popular video, which resulted in a flood of notifications of replies to my comment. This being Youtube, about half were simply "loL funy words!!" or something like that, and the other half were from pathetic angry stuff spigots.

Care to back that up with some reasoning?
Youtube is about the videos, not the comments. I can understand having a comment section for people to discuss the video but when I look at a political speech and see an "arrow to the knee" meme as a top comment, it drives the point home that comment rating is just useless.
