Author Topic: Avatar Glitch, Somethin about files.  (Read 2565 times)

This has been happening very recently, I have no idea why, I've searched the forums, no answers anywhere, except for that someone apparently had the same problem, and was never properly answered.

Before anyone says "Reinstall Blockland" I did that, glitch remains. I've even tried pure vanilla blockland, the glitch is still there. The only add-ons I have enabled have nothing to do with locating files, or avatars, decals, ect. I'm running all defaults on anything that would do that. Unless theirs some strange connection between playSound and your avatars. The problem also only occurs when I host a server, I can easily modify my avatar outside of server or in another persons without this problem, but when I open a server, the problem persists outside of it. Its like flipping a one-way switch on.
Every time I try to select something my console is spammed with messages such as:
Code: [Select]
ERROR: File "/thumbs/smiley.jpg" is not in one of the default directories.
It's been interfering significantly with random short films I've been trying to make, and gameplay that involves the use of bots. How am I supposed to convey that mister Jenkins is serious when he is smiling like a tard?

Even stranger, it seems after I deleted event_bots, the glitch went away, but the next day, even though the mod was still deleted, the glitch had returned. Is there any way to avoid this glitch? Or am I doomed to forever be unable to properly utilize facial expression?

Try backing up your add-ons and reinstalling.
You could have a corrupted script or texture file.

this is the exact same thing that happens to me, whenever i'm hosting and i try changing my face for an /applyav to a bot or something like that, it always shows up as no image on my avatar selection, the dummy in the avatar screen has the face i chose, but it's like a random one for the one i have in-game.

I respond to your statement with another previously stated statement.

Does this only happen on listen servers, or does it happen on dedicated servers too?
If it doesn't happen on dedicated servers, you could just do that.

It feels like it wouldn't, but seeing as how I don't host unless I'm actually in my server doing something, a dedicated server would use unnessisary memory. (Not that my computer totally can't handle it, but I like to prevent lag and be effecient if I can.)

There's little difference between running a listen server, and a dedicated server + client. Both of them are one server, and one client. I doubt it would use much more resources. The only thing it will do is make it more efficient and stable.
Just shut down the server when your done with it.

Efficient? Probably not. Stable? I could buy that.
Dedis have always had weird issues for me however, and I distrust their use because of it. Presently however, I'm not looking for a ductape fix, I'm looking for a sealant. (Limited Vs Perma)

One of your faces is missing a picture in the thumbs folder, or a thumbs folder in general.

no, when you open the box, it shows you all the thumbs fine, and it puts that same one in the window, but it appears on the selection thing that it's none and your one in-game is randomized.

More efficient because I don't believe Blockland has any multithreading support and running the two seperately would run them as different processes

Anyways the problem happens to me too, it may be a bug from one of the updates.

Weird Problem is Weird.

It seems the issue may be caused by add-ons such as TeamDM, and possibly Slayer. (As these use custom player uniforms, and may be out of date with recent blockland updates), I'll try to confirm which one, but thats my present hunch.

Except that it still happens with a fresh install
