No, it doesn't. The reason God keeps hardship is to give opportunities to show your devotion. If you were bringing some medicine or snacks to your girlfriend when she was sick, it would show her how much you loved her if you had to hike through a downpour. If it was easy it wouldn't mean anything.

thats religion!

But atheism can refer to either. That is the definition (or at least part of it), and arguing otherwise is basically saying the English language is wrong. :/

If you say "There is no God" you are asserting you believe there is no God. You are making a claim, even if it is a negative. You can believe in the negative of another belief; it may not make much sense, and there may be no proof inside of it, but you can. If you lack a belief in a god or in God, you would say nothing at all. And more people, at least that I have come across, tend to be the former rather than the latter.

"I do not believe in gods" is just a statement on my position and not an assertion, just as "I believe in gods" isn't an assertion. Atheism isn't a religion or a belief system, so no assertions need to be made to back it. I don't need to assume gods exist or assert that they don't when asked if I believe in something with no evidence. Burden of proof and the like.

I never said they were.

Lies on whoever makes a claim.

All I've been trying to say, Dkamm, is that atheism has come to mean more than just one thing. You're completely right on your definition, but others are also correct. It's like the word "gay". It means happy, joyous, colorful - it is still used in that respect - but others use it as a colloquialism for homoloveual. And over time that has become the norm, to a point where it has been entered into numerous dictionaries.

I feel this needs to be posted in ever religion topic:

The reason there is evil in the world is because God allowed us to have a choice whether or not to obey him rather than forcing us to. He could have made us worship him, but instead he gave us the choice. He allowed us to be free-thinking rather than mindless robots that do his bidding.

He gave us the choice to worship him or not! Amazing.

Yet if we choose the latter we spend an eternity in hell.

Atheism is a religion.
It's a religion that believes in no god.
I am nothing. Religion in all form is bollocks.
You're agnostic :D
Agnosticism is the belief that there's no way to tell whether any religion is truth.

He gave us the choice to worship him or not! Amazing.

Just because we have a choice doesn't mean there isn't a wrong choice.

Even if the Christian God is real, why would you want to worship him? Hell, why would you need to worship him? He has all the power in the world, what does he care is humans worship him? Why don't animals need to worship him?

In regards to animals and anything else, according the Christian Bible his own Creation glorifys himself. Now in the case of man, he created man in his image and designed him for a higher form of worship.

Why does an all powerful being seek glory?

Sounds like a very human idea to me.

Doesn't make sense to me either.

I was baptized but I don't really believe in any kind of god or whatever messiah.

Perhaps the bible and religion were all created to trick you into worshiping the eviler of the two!
