Author Topic: stuffS FIXED.  (Read 551 times)

This has been happening for a long time, and I posted in the Computer Megathread, and the advice I got worked for a while. Lately, games have started to lag again. I thought this was when I updated my drivers, but I just realized that it had been happening before I updated them.

Here is the DxDiag normally.

Here's what ti looks like now

I forgeted up something.

Games that lag

GTA IV and Episodes
Saints Row the Third
APB: Reloaded (on this one, the audio stutters and there's lots of random crackling and stuff)
TF2 (rarely)
Gmod (rarely)
Minecraft (rarely)

I just re-installed the drivers, and now dxdiag is showing the right card, but the memory still says 723.

It was overheating. Got a fan and its fixed. Goody day gentlemen.

You updated your drivers, so now it recognizes your GPU properly. It's a good thing.
Also, nice laptop.

When did you last update them? Did it happen just before/just after doing it? You could roll back if it is a driver problem, most likely.

EDIT: FYI, it would be better to have it showing the correct specs. It would be a HD5870 with 700MB VRAM. The top one is general series of card, as well as showing shared system memory, which you don't really want.

I think around November 1st.

Read my edit also. Although it should be fine how you've got it now.

How did you uninstall your drivers? Did you get rid of them properly? (Add/remove programs + driver sweeper + remove assembly tokens)?
Did it happen before you updated drivers?

you could just be overheating

I'm guessing its because you're playing on 1920x200, it's too much strain on your card since it's a laptop card and it only has around 1GB of vid memory.

It was happening occasionally before I updated my drivers, but I think I made it worse when I updated them. I think I used the uninstaller by AMD.

I thought about that too, but it had gotten much hotter before with no lag.

I tried games at lower settings and restorations, and it still happened. It ran stuff fine before though, GTA IV would run on 1920 x 1200 with a decent FPS.

I'd do a true uninstall, by using the program uninstaller, then using driver sweeper, then clearing the ATI/AMD assemblies.
Then reinstall the latest CCC package.

Will do.

Also, I was playing APB, and it lagged after a minute. I left to go tot he store for like an hour, then when I tried APB again it started lagging after about half an hour.
