We're going to kentucky and I need some kind of MP3 to hold me over, but my iPod 4G is dead. My sister loans me her iPod 8gb and immediately I realize what I'm in for. The damned thing is LAGGING. IT'S LAGGING. How the hell has Apple gone this far in so little time?

Does it have iOS 5? Like Skip said, it could be running too many things. To quit an app, open the multitasking tray and then hold an icon. The icons on the tray should now have a delete icon. Delete the ones you don't need.
