women can use words like lovey and hot, guys can use words like good or cool. ex.
girl: "omg gurlll, u look lovey nt hawt lol!"

guy:"you look cool and good bro"

the reason guys don't use words like hot and lovey to describe other men is because women use this to describe other females and men. this makes the use of those kinds of words towards other men seem feminine, and feminine is usually related to homoloveual. likewise a girl saying "you look good" could be interpreted as "you look like a bloated star fish" by some girls for the same reasons.

it all depends on the individual, what they are used to, and the relationship between the two people. that's not to say gender isn't important in the way two parties treat each other, it's hugely important. you don't see guys going around calling each other pretty. also, when a girl says "girl, you look hot" they don't mean the same thing as " girl, you look pretty." hot means that the girl would be attractive to potential mates, pretty means she looks nice. the reason guys don't use the same terminology is because they generalize the term with women, meaning using on an other male would be considered gay.
