If you're running XP, look up how to make it a clean install without ruining any contents with the recovery console.
If you're running Vista, insert the disk and select to repair your computer and go from there.

Sounds like a dying PSU. Is it making any hissing noises?
The corrupt error message could be from the constant shut-downs where Windows doesn't get the pleasant shut down it always likes.

I tried to boot it on but it instantly shut off. The third try, it worked, but it was just a black screen. And yes, it has made hissing noises.

great, my computer broke right before christmas holidays. :(

I suggest you try another PSU on it. It sounds like it's really really forgeted, not even supplying enough to the components. I wouldn't try any more just in case your components decide to fry themselves cause they aren't getting their rated wattage.

Well, it boots, but shuts down after loading windows, or not even before loading. It's the PSU for sure. Hopefully I can buy one within the two weeks I have for Christmas holidays. Until then, it's sitting beside my closet.
