Author Topic: What is wrong with my computer?  (Read 1071 times)

I need your help.

I was working on adding some obstacles to my race server and listening to music on youtube on internet explorer

Then, out of nowhere, the browser closed, all by itself. I figured it was some accidental thing that I did, so I opened my browser. Then this little window popped up, and it said that my browser was infected with "Trojan-BNK.Win32.Keykigger.gen"

It said that "credit card details and passwords" could be stolen. It had more junk, but that was just the important part.
 There were 2 options.
"Yes, activate Win 7 Internet Security 2012 (recommended)
"No, Continue unprotected"
I clicked no, then my browser opened.

It read "Internet Explorer alert. Visiting this site may pose a security threat to your system!"
Once again, there were more options. By this time I was pretty sure it was a virus, because I read this
"Things you can do:
Get a copy of 'Win 7 Internet Security 2012' to safeguard your PC while surfing the web (RECOMMENDED)
Run a spyware, virus, and malware scan
Continue surfing without any security measures (DANGEROUS)"

I clicked that one ^ but it took me right back to the page
I typed a link in the URL bar, hit enter, and it took me right back to the page

So my internet is broken. I tried going on Chrome, but the same thing happened.

I'm pretty positive that this is a virus, so I'm running a scan. Also, if you're wondering, my anti-virus expired, so I think that's how I got this, but I'm scanning it with something else my current anti-virus, it allows you to scan even when you're expired.. I'm typing this on my dad's laptop.

My dad will be here in two hours, so hopefully I can ask him for help.
Also any help from you guys would help too
:(

edit: scan complete, found 5 files + 3 moved to chest, 2 deleted (would let me move to chest)

rebooting

another edit: it has to scan all the files before it allows windows to start, aww, more waiting.

What was I supposed to do? Click yes?

kill your browser's process and pray it didn't already infect you

You don't have to pray because it can't infect it without doing anything to it.

Run a scan. If nothing shows up, I guess someone here can look up a removal guide or someone will do something impressive and remove the virus.

if his antivirus wasn't working (which it's not, if you read the OP he said it expired) it can infect you without you doing anything

kill your browser's process and pray it didn't already infect you

I did that, everything on my screen dissapeared, except for the black background and the avast! antivirus window, scanning my pc

halp

No, for some reason it still allows me to run a scan

(<3 avast!)

sorry for double post

Malwarebytes, for one.
DO a full scan with this and it will get EVERYTHING. And if needed, run a full avast scan since avast does not always get everything.

I don't have that, and I can't get it

SHOCKER

However, a full scan on "avast! anti-virus" completed. read bottom of op

Really, Avast won't pick it up.
The best way to get rid of it is to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and boot in Safe Mode and run a full scan.
