Author Topic: Youtube copyright cigarettes these days.  (Read 3913 times)

It's likely Millennium Entertainment handles distribution of the seasons on DVD or something, and bought these rights some time after the show was cancelled.

Regardless, if you upload a TV clip and it gets copy right claimed, there's nothing you can do unless you actually own the clip.  You can't claim fair use if it's just a clip/snippet because you're just re-uploading part of their property.

Actually I believe that's Time Warner that does that. If you go on the adultswim/cartoon network this is on the bottom.

I see nothing about Millennium Entertainment on their Wikipedia page either.  It's likely a false positive, I'd ask for proof of these guys first though.

I already filed a counter.

You don't on the loving clip. Your counter will fail.

My video doesn't have a Millennium Entertainment watermark so they have no copyright claim.
that has nothing to deal with it
if I made a picture and got a copyright on it, but never signed it anywhere, I would still have the copyright for it
putting a watermark on something does not make it copyrighted
nor does lack of a watermark void copyright

I personally think its bullstuff videos are taken down at all due to copyright, not including full episodes. Everything is loving copywritten today. I don't see how it hurts these huge companies having a two minute clip of their show posted on Youtube.

Most of the time it's so that people will HAVE to go to the producer's website to view them on their stuffty third-world video players, while also forcing you to sit through 30-second advertisements.  It's all for the sake of them earning money, and almost all of the time they don't even have the clip that you want anyway.

They have a right to not let people steal their content.

Except the 30 second clip is not actually from their website.

I took it off the actual show.

Where does it say that Millennium Entertainment distributes Billy and Mandy on television?

If anything I am infringing Time Warner not Millennium Entertainment. The only problem is that Millennium Entertainment is making the copyright claim and not Time Warner. Millennium Entertainment has no copyrights off Billy and Mandy.

technically they don't have the right to take down the clip because it's legal as long as it's under 35 seconds. to avoid that you could also mirror the clip.

Well the clip is under 30 seconds and youtube still took it down.

no that's not what I meant
at all
why would you even mention that, it's unrelated
what I said was that taking it from the show and taking it from the website are the same thing in terms of copyright
