I slowly opened my eyes.
"Am I alive, or is heaven an airport?" I rasped, rubbing the side of my head. I was laying at gate A3, the screen displaying that the American Airlines flight to Miami was cancelled. I sat up.
My left leg hurt something fierce. I winced, then looked around. Michelle was softly crying by a bathroom. She looked really upset, and I redirected my gaze. Down at the other edge of the terminal, I spotted Alyx, and Darx was nowhere to be found. I then looked down at my leg.
It was wrapped in a lot of gauze, giving the idea that it was broken. I got up, and tried to stand, to no avail. I fell to the floor, and spotted some crutches leaning on a row of seats. I crawled over, and used them to pull myself up. I got my bearings, and began to move over to Michelle.
She was whimpering softly as I walked over, unaware of my presence. "You alright?" I asked very softly.
Michelle looked up, then got to her feet and embraced me. "Don't do that, ever again." She whispered, before kissing me. She pulled away, then smiled at me.
"Do you know how bad my injuries are?"
"From what Darx told me, your left leg is sprained, and you have a concussion. That's all he said."
I nodded, then looked behind me at the tarmac. Planes sat stagnant and empty. One appeared like it was leaking fuel.
"Well, we're here. When are we leaving for Ger-"
She cut me off as she turned me around and kissed me again. I could feel tears falling onto my shoulder, and I heard her whimper softly. I pulled away slowly. "It's okay, Michelle. I'll be fine. Don't cry."
She nodded as tears streamed down her face, then wiped them away. She sat back down, and I sat down next to her, looking out onto the tarmac. I looked at her.
"Where's Darx?"
She pointed down the corridor, to gate A6. "He's resting. He was convinced he had you stabilized."
I nodded slowly, then looked back out at the tarmac. Michelle leaned her head onto my shoulder.
What a mess I've been through.
