Author Topic: Need help with lighting problems  (Read 1613 times)

Hello everyone, here is my lighting problems, and I really need your help.
Problem 1: As you can see, in the first picture, Area 1 and 2 both face front. However, Area 1 is dark while Area 2 is glowing.
Problem 2: still the first picture, both tanks face front, but the right one is dark and the left one is glowing.

Here is some additional info:
I use Blender 2.60. After the model is done I export it to ms3d format and add joints and animation in milkshape 3D.

I heard that the lighting is hard to explain, so could any smart guy teach me the correct way of doing it?

I have a feeling exporting to MilkShape messes with things. Try doing this in Blender before going to MilkShape. http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=157886.0#post_fixing

I have read your post, but I noticed the link to DTS exportor is dead. Then I google it and find out even the developer of DTS exportor removed the download link from their website. still thanks to your reply.

Perhaps you should have read the line below it.

To me it just looks like some of your normals are backwards. If that's what it says when you follow your link Demian I apologize I was just too lazy to follow it.

Racer, when you say the normal of some faces are backward, do you mean those faces are backfaces?

I got the Blender2.49 and the DTS exportor work, but it seems can't handle transparent materials. At least I don't know how to make it work.

Enable transparent and additives in the menu.

Big huge to people helped me. I finally get the lighting problem fixed.

I used the technique of fixing normal/rotation/scale in blender 2.6, which Demain introduced in his post.

Then I still use milkshape to do joints/animations.

Guess what, it worked! Again I really appreciate your help.
