Author Topic: My Portal 2 CD-Key says it's duplicated :C  (Read 2362 times)

So, my brother got me Portal 2 for Christmas, I signed in my PS3 using steam and since I signed in portal 2 on my PS3 with steam, it should already be ready-to-play on my PC too. I don't see it in my library. So I just put in the key (Which is inside the box) and it says this key is already being used.

Any help?

Ask your brother if he got it used.

Ask your brother if he got it used.
Nah, He gave it to me with the wrap still on the case.

Which means it was never opened.

Double-check. You seriously never know.

You can't be serious.

The reason he bought me it because the fact it said "PLAY ON PC OR MAC TOO WITH CODE INSIDE!" Because he knows I have steam.

Did he buy it from GameStop?

Gamestop is known to let their employees play games in their stock, rewrap it and label it as new anyway.

It's not their fault in this case.  Contact the store you bought it from.

No, he got it from Walmart

No, he got it from Walmart
Contact Walmart.  They sold you a used copy, whether or not they labelled it "new".

Or your brother used the code.

I've never heard of what he said, unless they mean a floor usage of the game. I think I've seen games repackaged in plastic, but that doesn't mean they mismark them.

My brother doesn't have a steam.

I'll try to contact Walmart

So I contacted Walmart and they said they will get somebody to help me.

Bummer. Hope this works out.
