Author Topic: Laptop taken away because of too much time on it & grades.  (Read 1849 times)

The fact that you're crying to this forum about the temporary loss laptop is proof enough that you're addicted. Instead of spending your time scheming clever plans on how to get your laptop back and/or whore for attention, you could be studying math. I'm going to bet the reason your parents claim you're addicted is because of your grades. I'm going to assume that you rarely study or do your homework in math, which is why you're failing. Your parents see that you could be studying and maintaining your grades, yet you spend your time on the computer, which shows that you value your time on the computer more than your grades (and thereby your future). If you work on maintain good grades, which will take some effort resulting in considerably less free time, your parents won't question what you do in your free-time because you're showing that you can maintain good grades with your current lifestyle.

This is the exact situation I went through in middle/high school, it's not a good habit to have later on.

my only C is Algebra 2

because I suck at math in general

Grades are never ok if you have an F.

My dad has me strive towards straight A's for every semester in highschool, which I very nearly didn't do this semester.

I think the issue here is that you're okay with an F. I'm sure yer parents will let you have it back if you get that F up to at least a C.

I mean the lowest grade I get is in creative subjects that I didn't even want to take, it's still not that bad.

Idk why. I've always been naturally good at math, never gotten below an A.

I'm on the computer a decent amount but being honest I study a lot as well. My friend says I'm good because I get the work done well but at the same time I'll have a muck about doing it. You've got to balance out your time on the computer with you time studying. With the right balance you can get straight A's AND play on computer, like me Freeze.

that sounds so cheesy like a tv show
And now onto our cooking special here's one I made earlier!

My parents don't accept C's only B's and A's.

You've nobody to blame but yourself for this unfortunate event.
Get help or study more.

my parents only accept B's and A's because i spoiled them earlier in my life :(
now that they know i have the capability to get As in every subject in elementary school and never really have any outlying classes (and middle school too..) they think that i will pass everything with flying colors (which is somewhat true, i'm not going to deny it, it's just somewhat annoying because they're disappointed with anything less than that)

honestly my best advice for you is that you should just not use your laptop during the week. i realize you may not be in high school yet (too lazy to look up profile) but you should get in the habit of not using it when you should be using your time for more academic things such as studying for math. since starting high school i've never used my laptop during the week and have kept my straight A's, with one outlying B+ that my math teacher says is absolutely terrific considering that i moved up 2 levels in math this year.

same here

Math is literally the only subject I am best at :/ I got a 101 average in Geometry Honors for one of my quarters. I can't stand Biology though. I got an C in Biology for the first quarter and then it dropped to an F. I did about 4 extra credit projects to boost my grade and I think I did well on my last test so I pray that I have at least a C. That would be amazing. Every other class is either a strait A or a B+ :)

math honors: 89 (B+)
biology honors: 102.25 (A+)
problem officer?

I can tutor you in Math if you want, I've been only tutoring in computer science so far but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to jump to lower level math.

Edit: I'm realizing it might be hard to tutor when you're without a computer, so maybe that isn't a good idea.

I can ge all Fs and my parents wont even punish me much at all. Mostly because I think they take pity on me and believe that I try my hardest (most of the time I don't)
No its because they don't care about you.

OP, stop loving around and get your math score up. Talk to your teacher and ask for help or find a tutor. There is no excuse for failing that isn't mental handicapation (in which case you should be in a separate class or have aid provided to you) or being lazy. So stop being lazy and study, when you get your grades up you'll get your stuff back.

Get your math grade up, dammit. Get a tutor. Quit whining because you can't play on your laptop, OP. I've been grounded from EVERYTHING, even TV, for three months. So shut up, do your work, and exercise more. And I have all A's except for Biology. That's a B.
