A quiet fan of the show who just loves the show would not dare call himself a brony because he is more respectable.

People that love the show too much to obsess about it, make pony versions of every loving thing out there, call themselves a brony, may or may not clop to pony research, etc is a loving furry.

The normal people who watch the show are quiet about it. They don't spend all day finding pony images off google and posting them in the megathread to talk among their pony peers about how loving lovey rainbow dash is, that's what furries do.
