Author Topic: What is the fastest browser for my PC?  (Read 4691 times)

Obviously Chrome is the fastest. More info:

Lagging behind with all the other browsers, e.g. cannot show some web pages with scripts. Limited number of addons. Least secure against viruses and updates only come in at scheduled intervals. UI is poorly designed (tab bar at the same row as the URL bar)

Very customizable with thousands of addons available, however installing many addons can slow down startup time. Regular security updates. UI is efficient.

Moderately faster than Firefox, not as many addons but still plenty. Regular security updates. UI is efficient.

About as fast as Firefox. No addon support and can get really annoying with the Apple Software Update stuff. Usually secure against viruses but updates only come in at scheduled intervals. UI is efficient.

I'd say use Firefox as a primary browser, and Chrome as a secondary. You'll be able to casually browse the internet with all your addons but also have a fast browser when you're in a rush.

Also, Chrome is using a separate process for each plugin/site which means that if something crashes then everything else still works.

How is netscape bad?

The last stable releases (7 and 9) are based on ancient versions of Mozilla Firefox (1 & 2 respectively). They are both more than five years old and lacks a lot of features. Netscape 8 is a broken piece of stuff and should be avoided completely. Netscape 6 and older renders webpages worse than IE6, meaning they are completely useless other than for old operating systems (Windows 3.x) and nostalgic reasons.
