Author Topic: Mega Bear's LOVE2D Games - Bit Builder, Zen Garden  (Read 9418 times)

All of these games are made by me with minor assistance from Extrude or Kingdaro if needed. Appropriate credit is given at the end of the OP.

All games are written in Lua and use LOVE2D as a platform, if that's correct terminology. To run these games, extract the .zip and double click on the .exe!

Bit Builder

Bit Builder is inspired by games such as Minecraft, and is essentially a freebuild version of Terraria, minus all items and many blocks. The blocks featured in the picture are all that come with the game.

Controls:
Left and right arrow keys to switch between blocks. Selected block is shown in the top left (In the screenshot, you can see the crosshair underneath the GUI).
A and D keys to scroll left and right on the map. (Glitchy as FUNK)
Left click to place the selected block, right click to delete a block.

Hall of Fame:
If you build something really cool and don't want to lose it, take a screenshot! If you feel it is worth the spotlight, post it here and I'll consider it adding it to the hall of fame!

Zen Garden

This game is, unfortunately, unable to be finished with the current version of LOVE2D. All parts of the game work perfectly at the moment, but it is currently impossible to make the rake leave a trail behind it when dragged. Enjoy it if you can. :/

If anyone out there knows Lua or is learning Lua I'd be more than happy to distribute the .love versions of these games among you.

Bit Builder is actually pretty cool.

Good job Mega Bear

The Zen game isn't very good though no offense, I just use the rake and everything gets caught on it lol

Zen Garden is the tardis cousin that fails to live up to Bit Builder's reputation is every way imaginable, I know it sucks. I only have it up there so I can call the topic "Mega Bear's LOVE2D Games." :D

And neat build Pablo, would you like it to go in the Hall of Fame? If so, give it a title. :)

id like it if that FGAPGOT EXTREUD DIDTN HELP

When you scroll to one side the placing of the blocks is off, you'd better look into that.

That is why scrolling is listed as "Glitchy as FUNK." I don't recommend using it at all.

Bit Builder is rather nifty. Map Scrolling is really screwed up, as you stated. Also, it would be nice if you could hold down the mouse button to place/erase multiple tiles rather than having to click on individual squares.

Glad to see you guys like it.

Hey mega, if you want I could sprite for you.

You could turn Bit Builder into something amazing with a little effort n' stuff

If you could make a 20x20 leaf texture that would be nice. Mine is pretty bad.

I'm having trouble opening the game.
I downloaded it and extracted the ZIP file to a folder in my documents.
I open up the .exe and I get a window that is named Untitled.
The window is white.

It should be called Untitled, however the white screen is not an issue on my part. The game is 300 liens of code and there's nothing in there that will cause it to run differently for anyone.

Okay, I'll go try.

But first!

Edit: I tried and failed :c

I'm no good at leaves.
