Author Topic: mountain men  (Read 1934 times)

i'm making a game with zack0wack0 (he's coding, i'm doing the artwork)
it's called mountainMEN, done on his engine, the sprocket engine.

here are some of the things i've done so far. i'll post more as i do more, and i'm hoping to achieve some criticism from this

concept art (not logo)

animations for walking, jumping, idle etc. (arm up = throwing grappling hook)

walking loop (old version)

Looks all right. First pic is good but the rest just seems to be missing something.

Cool! So it's gonna' be some kind of puzzle game. Right?

cheaply done startup screen or something

Looks good for being cheaply done

Looks very cute. I would work on those animations though, especially the jump; have him bend down with his knees as he begins to take off and again when he lands. See what its like if you give his arms/shoulders/head some "bounce" or some recoil/anticipation throughout his animations. Looks like the walk cycle could do with similar adjustments to the legs but its difficult to elaborate if I can't see it frame-by-frame. I don't know much about the direction you're going for in terms of the animations but feel free to consider these changes if you'd like the character to appear more fluid and believable.

Anyway, sounds promising. Can't wait to see how the art style will evolve; looking forward to some background art!
