Why would they have a pile of loaded, fire-ready guns?

The safety would be on, at least.

Because there is zero percent chance of a bullet still in one of those chambers in the pile of guns, ZERO PERCENT CHANCE!

There have been reported incidents where bullets were still in the chamber, even after the mag was pulled out. Unfortunately some people learned that the hard way.

When you chamber a round it stays in the chamber.

Every young person on the internet who knows a lot about guns learned about them from video games.
Yup keep believing that.

Definitely had nothing to do with all those documentaries I've watched, definitely not

Or first hand experience.

Don't be silly, nobody on the internet has ever used a real gun!

No guns in here, no SIR.

Guns are illegal and my Dad says they're bad.
Which sucks because I really want a gold plated AK-47 with ACOG scope, foregrip, folding stock, laser-sight, flashlight, grenade launcher, tacticool rails, a tactical spoon attachment and some hello kitty stickers!!

If it wasn't for games or other media (movies, etc), we'd have less guncigarettes than we do now.
I don't give a stuff about guns, they're illegal to own in my country, anyway, but I don't see the fuss about buying a gun when you're not going to use it as intended, killing something.

Don't forget, for your Remington/Mossenberg, my little pony rainbows, clouds, ponies and blues on the stock and every single non-vital piece there is. (my dream skin :D.)

What idiot would gold-plate his/her weapons anyway? Doesn't make you look more intimidating, just makes you look like a hapless richard who knows absolutely nothing about firearms other than "pull trigger, maek b00m b00m".. likely from cowadoody.
Besides, gold shines like a mofo and in darkness/ambush prep would give you and your team away.

Some (like myself) like to go down to the range and shoot some steel plates. Think archery, that's a sport that tests accuracy and skill and such... except if you miss, depending on the gun you're using there's going to be a 1/4-foot-deep crater where the shot landed OR there's going to be a(n) bullet hole(s) in whatever was behind your target.

Guns are the most practical choice for home defense anyway. When people see guns pointed at them, it sparks a battle of psychological warfare. Nobody wants to die or feel a lump of lead rip through a bunch of nerves all in a split second, therefore could scare the trespasser away. If not, pump a few into non-vital limbs and see if he's still standing/eager to rob/kill/rape your family.
Which, in that case, would buy time to call the authorities.

ITT: self- and home- defense?

this is false. non-lethal or incapacitating shots aren't taught in rl. gun self defense training teaches you to aim for center mass and shoot until they stop moving. if your life is in danger enough for you to have a gun pulled out, trying to aim for a non-vital part is too risky.

when i get my first firearm i'm gonna paint the grip/stock/etc sky blue and paint rainbow dash's cutie mark on it

People like the ones you describe arent on these forums. Its a stereotypical "If that guy knows about guns he couldnt have learned it anywhere but call of duty." And, actually, most of them are actually interested in the make and design of the guns and their ammunition, and did not develop the interest from games.
