Alright; so my family requests that I drive them down to sydney.

We're going to visit my families and stuff

I'll be available for a few days to visit any of you guys if you want, as well as a friend of mine that lives in north NSW.

Get the forget out, just because he doesn't know another countries cities and stuff doesn't mean jack. Get anyone from another country and tell them to point to a state of your choice, do it. 9 times out of 10 they wont be anywhere close.

It's a pretty big/important city, it would be like saying "where's Toronto?".

The only time I've heared of Sydney come up in conversation was if I was talking to an Australian.

I had no clue what NSW(I do know where New South Wales is though) meant, don't assume everyone has the same knowledge of certain things as you.
