Author Topic: Help Fred with his calculus homework pls.  (Read 1946 times)

I finished my whole assignment except one problem. Here it is:

The Monticello High School swimming pool is an inverted cone with base height 20 meters and radius 5 meters. It is being filled by Mr. Lundin with a hose which pumps in water at the rate of 3 cubic meters per minute.

(a) When the water level is 2 meters, how fast is the water level rising?
(b) How fast is the radius changing at this moment?

So, we know:
h = 2
r = 1/2
dv/dt = 3

Also, the formula for volume of a cone is V=(1/3)(pi)(r^2)(h)

We need to find out:
(a) dh/dt
(b) dr/dt
