Author Topic: How to allocate more Ram to Blockland  (Read 1963 times)

I remember seeing a tutorial where someone used a command prompt to give more ram to Minecraft. I'm sure there's some way to do this with Blockland, but I'm not quite sure how. I thought maybe via task manager- changing the priority of BL to high, but that doesn't seem to have done much.

The reason I'm asking is because every now and then, I have a certain number of add-ons enabled and hosting works fine, but then next time I try to host a server (usually a seperate day) Blockland Lags a lot, for no apparent reason. the mouse goes very slowly, and the problem doesn't leave until I disable a truckload of add-ons. And it worked just fine before. This has happened a number of times, so I'll have to disable a lot of mods, then it happened again (I haven't really enabled very many since then) and I have to disable even more. Now I have very very few vehicles or weapons enabled. The only thing I might consider having a lot of- and even then not that much, is Jvs bricks and events.

I have a handful of scripts, but nothing huge. I don't understand why I'm lagging so much, I have a pretty good computer. I got a new graphics card that can run games with great graphics, I have 500 gigs of space, and a dual core processor (Yes I downloaded the patch a while ago). Any ideas?

Minecraft can allocate more RAM because it's Java, I'm not sure you can do that with a Torque game or a normal .exe.

noedit: I mean with launch options.

Ah, ok. But even if I can't get more ram to BL, any idea why I have so much lag for seemingly no reason?

You can. Get an exe editor program and you can lift the RAM limit. I've done it, Kalphiter's done it, and this guild that starts with an A has done it, forgot the name. Warground is in it. It's a german/european guild.

Any chance I can get a tutorial? Or is it too complicated- Or in other words I have to figure it out on my own?

I wouldn't exactly call your system "pretty good" with that card/those specs  .. decent at best to be honest

What are your graphics settings in Blockland?

Decent? Never thought of it that way.. Well I guess compared to some computers out there, it isn't great. But it's still pretty good. I can play things like Lotrc without problem, and Lotro (I'm a big lotr fan) on its highest graphic setting, which is pretty good. Anyways-
I usually have the settings on high, but that never seems to do anything as far as lag goes anyways, whether it's high or low, lol

Bump

Can someone tell me how exactly to do this? Or at least with what program?

sorry for triple post

ugh.. Well I tried out one exe editor- pe.explorer, but that was useless. I have no idea how to work it or what I'm even trying to do. In my eyes it's like doing a grammar problem in German. I tried asking for help via the contact us page, all he basically said was
"all you can do is raise the Ram limit, try looking at the exe editor page."
REAL Helpful there!

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with RAM allocation.

Try starting and then joining a dedicated server and tell me if the lag still happens. I suspect that this is the issue.

ok, I'll try that in a sec

Nope, no lag. Although I haven't been lagging today either. Usually when my game starts to lag, like in that topic- for no apparent reason, it does that until I restart the computer or something. And since last time I lagged like that, I have restarted, the lag is gone for the moment. Should I start another dedicated server when and if I lag again, to see if it lags?

Ugh, Noedit: I almost never host dedicated servers, do they always automatically enable all add-ons? When I started it there was no lag suprisingly, but every one of my mods was enabled.
