Changes to the launcher:

  • Fixed issues with locating the "my documents" folder if it was not called "my documents"
  • CDN Downloads are now compressed

In addition to saving ~20% on bandwidth, the compressed downloads should avoid the problem of ISPs interfering with downloads.  If you use mobile or dial-up internet access and had previously had problems with the launcher failing to download some files, try the new version.  The new launcher should also fix confusion between "documents" and "my documents" and some foreign language installs.

New launcher:
http://blockland.us/files/Blockland_Setup_r1511.exe (Windows)
http://blockland.us/files/Blockland_OSX_r1511.dmg (Macintosh)
http://blockland.us/files/Blockland_OSX_r1511.zip  (Macintosh)

Note: The old launcher still works fine, there's no need to update if you're not having a problem.

Changes to the game:

  • Fixed crash when joining a server with "download music" turned off
  • CDN Downloads are now compressed
  • Normal pine tree restored, Christmas tree moved to add-on

i'll miss you forever christmas trees :(

i'll miss you forever christmas trees :(
It still exists. Just enable the add-on.

Out of curiosity, are direct downloads from the user's server compressed in any way, or is this only for the CDN? Is there a way to submit files to the CDN?

I'm having trouble with the installer (using old launcher atm)

This has happened to me twice (exact same probelm), and I've been having no problems with my internet

Downloading new installer right now

EDIT: Still having the same problem even with the new launcher...  :panda:

You should also mention you added the better icon to the launcher as well.

Says Loading Stuff... when opening the new launcher.

Firewall.

I will keep the old launcher then, im working fine.

Now thats why people were crashing...

Im getting this error when I downloaded the new launcher.

Im fairly sure ive had this a while ago, but I cant remember a fix. I installed the windows version into my Documents on Windows 7, intending it to overwrite the old launcher and stuff.

Hadn'tEvenPostedTheMessageEdit:
I just removed the file from my Blockland folder, and the launcher started. Right now it says "Loading Stuff..." I'm hoping i haven't broken it too much..

StillHaventPostedItEdit:
It seems to run fine. If anyone else gets this problem, wait until Badspot says that it shouldn't of broken anything, then just remove the file from your Blockland folder. Do not delete it, just in case.

EDIT: Mr.LoL just said that he doesnt have the file in his folders. So its probably from some old update..

Fuu, the image is dead..

Hold on, is the compression done at the HTTP level?
yes it is, then I'm unaffected

No.
No.

The first question being "no" is a problem.
