Author Topic: Help le Dan fix his 8 year old PSP.  (Read 2998 times)

So, It's been borked for a while now, ever since I tried charging it with an unlicensed car charger. It just wont charge, the remaining life had still worked, which means I've sorta kinda singled out the problem. You could say,"lol dan just go ship it to Sony to get it le fixed" but no. You don't pay $50 to get 8 year old technology fixed. so, anyone have any suggestions?

Also, seeing as I don't have a PSP unless I fix it right that one way, I'm willing to do a lot* to fix this.

sell it

buy an ipod touch or android.

I have an Android, but I just want to see if this is fixable. plus, how could I sell it if it currently doesn't work?

Okay, if you have a PS2 Slim Power Cord, you can use that. If that doesn't work, try the official charger. If that doesn't work, it's the battery.

Umm, I only have one charger, I used the RadioShack car charger, not my current one, and the battery, though not accepting charge, still worked until the battery died.

I appreciate the help though :D

i was kidding.

my PSP 3000 suffered the same fate, and i've never been able to get the battery working again.
just try everything, and if that doesn't work, give up.

You can buy a new battery off of eBay for cheap, I'm sure.

EDIT: O WAIT
try something for me
remove the battery, and plug the charger in. tell me the results

if it never gets fixed, go attach a weather balloon to it and a camera and watch where it goes and upload the video.

Duct tape Fixes,
Everything.

Nope. No light, no nothing. Now, If I remember correctly, the charger that came with the RadioShack thingy fit more than snug, so I thought that maybe one of the prongs in the port were bent too far back. But that's just me and my crazy thoughts.

Okay, I have a PSP1001. The AC Pattern is:
Diamond Minus, Circle, Diamond Fill. It's also 5v

Look at the Radioshack charger and see what it says.

Mine is a 3.6V 1800MHz. Also, where would I find these shapey things?

I dunno. Ignore those.
Anyway, find a 5v or more. 3.6v isn't enough.

Oh oh oho oh. though you meant the battery. No, Mine is a 5v, Diamond with a minus in it - circley thing with a dot in it, Diamond with a plus in it.

Just noticed that my PSP also has a DC Input located behind the AC one, just two strips of metal, likely for a Charging Dock.
