i don't know if it was different before, but I needed to get an activation email and then I could login. I couldn't do it before I got the email, although I had made my own account with all the info and such
i haven't even bought it yet, i just registered like ten minutes ago.

You need to confirm via the authentication e-mail before it will let you sign in and purchase/download the game.

Their e-mail seemed to take a minute or two for me.
I tried signing up again with the same details, which it let me, and then it came pretty soon.

10 minutes sounds slightly too long.

once i stood still waiting for some fog to to render, and the fog increased, formed around me, and engulfed me.

If you get too close or move about while in an unrendered zone this happens. Generally you can see the edge of the rendered zone through the fog when you get close enough, you can stand right on this threshold and wait. I generally stay back a bit so no enemies surprise me.

that's the ip you use to access your router's configuration thing
it was the ipv4 address you give out, not the default gateway

The blue shapes under a pets health bar seem to indicate some sort of riding stamina thing. When there are none you cannot ride it, when they are there you can. Having your pet die seems to reset these shapes. I am still unsure of specifics.
