I feel that many of the protest are bad propaganda. They portray the bill in a wrong way, showing it like censorship by blacking out words, etc. Yeah, I guess the bill is censorship but not in the way most people think of it. Most people associate censorship with the government deleting stuff they is against them. SOPA a little differnt. It's for the use of private corporations. Sure, that could be worse than government censorship, but it's not the same as the systems in place by other countries were sites will be taken down for protesting.
I think the positive thing that does come from the blackouts is awareness. Today at school EVERYBODY was talking about SOPA. But honestly blackouts on sites used by tech-savvy users were pointless since many of them already knew about SOPA.
SOPA isn't as bad as some people want to make it seem. As I said earlier, SOPA is made for corporations. The only sites that should be afraid are major filesharing like Pirate Bay, which probably should be taken down anyways. The worst thing it will do is possibly take down YouTube, which would suck. Some people say that SOPA will take down small start-ups and blogs, but corporations aren't going to comb through every little blog just to find comments with copyrighted content.
I think what's really bad about SOPA is it shows how little government care about the people. People have been protesting SOPA for awhile, but Congress hasn't given a forget. That's the real problem.
