Wow, 20 years in prison....

So basicly if all website hosters move outside of USA their content cannot be blocked?
Yes and no.

Sweden is a lot more liberal and a lot more geared to civil liberties than America is. Moving there would protect your website from the United States.

SOPA and PIPA would have allowed the Government to do what China and other totalitarian governments do, and tell all ISPs in the country to stop routing people to these websites. It wouldn't shut TPB down, but it would prevent anyone on a United States ISP to access them.

But they had that cool song with all the black people in it :c

That's what happened to me, TPB is blocked by my provider.

Also can someone explain to me how they have the power to do this? SOPA was delayed for at least a month.

There's a legal process for this i'm sure. I read somewhere that the music/movie companies can give them a 30 day warning till they take legal action or something....not really sure how it works.

I see. :/ god damn it.

I'm actually really surprised that Belgium has ISP blacklists.

Assuming this was all done correctly, they were given a fair warning.

It was only an indictment, which is a review of whether or not the accusation is reasonable before bringing it to court, and the site gets shut down and its leaders arrested.

What the forget?

I don't know about other Belgian ISPs, though.

It's still super homoloveual.

The Pirate Bay is in Sweden, and outside of the Jurisdiction of the US Government.

Megaupload is based in Hong Kong, outside of the jurisdiction of the US government.

I really don't see how the FBI can shut down a company based outside of the US.

"Although its incorporation was located in Hong Kong, the company did not operate in Hong Kong."

To bypass most ISP blacklists, change the DNS server.

Fairly sure an ISP can block anything they want. SOPA just gives them a list of additional sites they have to block.

This is it; the internet is ending as we know it.
