Author Topic: Getting a smart phone. Need suggestions.  (Read 2095 times)

Smartphones are dumb. People tend to break their phone more often than any other device. Why not get a cheap phone that can act as a hotspot, then purchase an iPod Touch or something for your smartphone needs?

if you break a phone more than twice every 2 years, you're a forget head and shouldn't even have a phone.

Samsung galaxy s II.

It has nice battery life, a big screen, it is easy to work with, great for messaging, an 8 megapixel camera..  And a bunch of other stuff

if this is true then I would honestly suggest an iPhone
my mom has one and it's pretty cool and has a really damn big variety of apps
it is.
like loving get an iphone.

By the way when you trick it into thinking it's using Wifi it doesn't cost anything I think, because the app is what charges Verizon, not Verizon just watching.

I dunno how it works or if it's true. Just heard about it.

no

verizon gives you data service, so they can track how much data goes to/from your phone

when your phone connects to wifi, it automatically turns off data (3G on the iPhone)

apps don't give a forget about counting data

Yes! I love mine

Two things about android vs iphone
Android controls (my figures aren't exact) about 40% of the market share for smart phones Vs about 30% for iphones, and iirc android surpassed iphone in app selection not too long ago.

Get an android device, otherwise you're buying into propaganda.

Not the quantity of the apps when the quality is stuff.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Feel free.

it's available on my stuffty obscure network (us cellular) so i assume you'd be able to get it for verizon too
I have US Cellular. You'd appreciate it if you had to pay for your own bill. Cheap as stuff and awesome plans.

Droid 2 has been very good to me. I would suggest it.
Try a refurbished one, they come in pretty good shape for a cheaper price, as low as $200-300 in the U.S, but they still aren't that cheap.
The maps are accurate, good internet and youtube.
Droid 2 supports Minecraft Pocket Edition, Steincraft (A free minecraft clone), Osmos, Angry Birds (hurrdurr), and Modern Combat 3 (a FPS), and Contract Killer (another FPS, free)

Oh, and if your a queer, you can always get a game called "Drunken Pee".

I have a HTC. It's a decent phone, but way too overpriced for what it can do.

pretty much all of the decent apps on the app store are now on android marketplace or are making their way there

it's not like the people behind these apps dont know that android holds 10% more of the market than apple

it would be bad business if they weren't porting their apps over, no one's going to switch phones over one app.
