You guys are all overreacting. There's the government can see and prosecute everyone who illegally downloads from Megaupload. I mean seriously, it's not like MU was full of just pirated stuff, there was legal stuff on there as well. So it would be a risk for people downloading normal, legal files from there as well. Plus the fact that there's no real way of pinpointing exactly which files got downloaded and which IPs were downloading them. Because, apparently, I think all the files were deleted when MU was seized.

When a domain is seized, it's permanent unless it's given back to the original owners.

Second of all, the domain can only be bought in increments of 1 year, and it's valid until 2014 anyway.
