Author Topic: PIPA AND SOPA ARE BACK ALREADY. Now called 'OPEN Act'.  (Read 1443 times)

wowe bros

you're taking this way to seriously...

this is basicly one of the best things that has ever happened on the internet. It only takes down websites that are for pirating (tpb if it was in US) and not media sharing sites like Mediafire/facebook/twitter/everything
You sir, are quite handicapped.
SOPA, PIPA, and all these bills will take down every single site with a picture of a taco from Taco Bell, because they didn't have permission. There for taking down Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and everything else we all know and love. Including the Forums.

I say, OPEN looks like a better solution than SOPA or PIPA. Hopefully the bill won't be as abusable as I'd imagine that SOPA or PIPA could potentially be. "whew"

please read before you post. I wasn't talking about SOPA/PIPA i was talking about OPEN

"OPEN would give oversight to the International Trade Commission (ITC) instead of the Justice Department, focuses on foreign-based websites, includes an appeals process, and would apply only to websites that "willfully" promote copyright violation."

will·ful   [wil-fuhl]
adjective
1. deliberate, voluntary, or intentional: The coroner ruled the death willful murder.

Media sharing sites dont "deliberatly, voluntarily, or intentionally" break copyright laws.

Quote
If the ITC investigation finds that a foreign registered website is ‘primarily’ and ‘willfully’ infringing on the IP rights of a U.S. rights holder, the commission would issue a cease and desist order that would compel payment processors (like Visa and Paypal) and online advertising providers to cease doing business with the foreign site in question.
>Primarily and willfully
>Makes payment processors stop doing business with the site, doesn't completely censor it like SOPA/PIPA

Until someone takes the time to read the entire bill and see if there's anything bad about it, I'm not going to oppose it. This doesn't sound bad.
Think about it; the government will eventually pass something to combat piracy, and if it's not something mild sounding like OPEN, then it will be something worse.

Do you guys even loving read anything before stuffting your pants?

This is WAY better than SOPA, it was written by people on the internet to make a better anti-copyright bill.

Oh. Now I understand. That does sound a little better mess. I do hate how the US is breaking the Bill of Rights over the internet though....

OPEN looks like a lot more precise and less abuseable bill than SOPA/PIPA.

Do tell what part of the Bill of Rights protects piracy.

I beg the government that this is the only thing they pass. They seem to be getting better at this.

my god they're worse than lord tony D:

actually looking at it a second time it's not that bad.

Wow a bill that actualy doesn't violate the constitution

this one will mean that they actually have to convict the site of being intentionally malicious instead of just pouncing on it.

So hey um Europe here is it ok if we nuke you guys so we sort of are sure the sopa and pipa guys are dead ok?
