Author Topic: What the forget has Obama done so far? (The answer: wars and debts apparently?)  (Read 3058 times)

Whether you want to associate this with Obama or not, car companies like Ford turned a profit for the first time in years not too long ago. I know I'm associating it with Obama. :cookieMonster:

I'm pretty sure Ford didn't get a bailout

Also, businesses rise and fall, if a company is failing, let it fail

Better ones will expand and take it's place

ford didn't get a bailout because they actually had the sense to start making (or importing from europe) good small cars before gm did (hurr better keep pumping out stuffboxes).

you don't just let a massive company like general motors fail. that would wreck stuff in ways you cannot possibly imagine.
gm makes trucks, is a best selling company in europe, and they've made the first really useable electric car.

now that they're making actually good cars now, they can genuinely compete with the japanese and koreans.

you always want more options when buying cars. 'murica lost a good company when the american motors corporation went under in the 80s - they offered unique cars, and they had the best offerings among the car companies for compact cars and niche cars. when they went under, you no longer could get truly 4wd cars without going to audi. and amc was a tiny company compared to gm of the time - if modern gm went under, tens of thousands of people would be out of work, and the only american brand around would be ford (because chrysler car may still go under if fiat says "forget it").

Healthcare law (don't know if good or bad seeing as ive never read it and the only ones I've really heard explain it to me are the news anchors on FOX)
universal healthcare would be amazing, but from what i understand, it's been butchered by the republicans in congress - afaik, you would have to buy insurance from the government, so it'd basically be like modern health insurance except it's tax evasion if you don't pay.

Because our economy was all fine and dandy when Obama took office.

You're acting like better businesses that can expand to a national scale happen over night. It would probably take years before something resembling GM had appeared, putting thousands upon thousands of people out of work, destroyed the American auto-industry, essentially loving the northern mid-west up the ass.

I am all for capitalism, but when the entire system falls on your head, it is not time to abandon ship, it is time to help businesses through the hard times so that the people they employ can wade through them too.

The only relatively respectable conservative candidate is Ron Paul imo. Gingrich's ideas are too extreme/undermining and Santorum was just insane, thank God he dropped out. Obama is definitely going to be re-elected from the looks of it.
What the forget? Santorum didn't drop out, lol. And if you think Ron Paul is the best candidate for the GOP to beat Obama, you're a moron.

Told some people to go shoot him*

Really odds of him being re-elected are slim.
If slim is the new "extremely probable" then yes, his odds of him being re-elected are slim.

Also, Seal-Team 6 did a great service for their country, however they didn't find Bin Laden. They get the credit of killing him, but they would not have had that chance without Obama's re-initiation of finding Bin Laden.

Obama's done well for what he was given. I still support him!

show me where i said he isn't $wag

How would you feel making lots of money only to be taken in a way that says, "You have more money than everyone else, now give it to me. Now you're like everyone else, *troll face*"
We're talking about the ultra rich here. They can be taxed far beyond that of the average citizen and still bathe in their luxuries. Despite that, they still demand to keep their money as a form of competition instead of helping the rest of the country.

Exactly. We don't want more of their money because they're rich, we want more of their money because a lot of them aren't paying the same percentage as their secretaries...

We can't assume every rich person does this though

Anyways, for the ones who do pay absurdly low percentages due to exploiting those tax loops (Cough ROMNEY), they probably should get those increases.
