Who's right?

My dad
Myself

Author Topic: Proactiv  (Read 844 times)

So my dad says I shouldn't have gotten it. He says rubbing hydrogen peroxide and witch haze all over my face will magic my acne away. We just had a 20 min argument about how benzoyl peroxide is not the same thing as hydrogen peroxide. We had a computer at hand and Wikipedia said "A common misconception is that hydrogen peroxide helps treat acne, but it really only burns your skin." The Acne page mentioned nothing of hydrogen peroxide but it said a lot about benzoyl peroxide.

He thinks that since witch hazel and H.P is in the proactiv ingredients, those are the only thing that matters. He said all the other ingredients are "fillers".

Poll: who is right?
My side: Those two thing alone will NOT work
His side:Yes they will

"hur let's put witch hazel and hydrogen peroxide in acne cream and every bloody other thing is useless"

dud wat

yeah i think you're right on this one but then again i'm no expert

I voted myself because I am always right.

Just go to a dermatologist and get some Ampicillin. BP is annoying to use.

Oh, and don't bother arguing with your dad. He's an idiot.

I don't have a UTI, I have acne.

The one a derm prescribes will treat acne.

Go ask anyone with an average amount of knowledge, and they'll tell you the same thing.

Or you could just go see a derm.

The witch hazel will only remove oil from your outer skin, and the hydrogen peroxide won't do stuff because it'll dry up in a second.

In short, unless you have some oily sheen you want to get rid of with witch hazel, using either of those products to clear up acne is just as useful as praying to god to cure your acne.

Proactive didn't do stuff for me, and I had been using it for like 3 months.
