Author Topic: A little rant about little uneducated Japan fans  (Read 626 times)

I only want to address two issues here which I believe people of such hard headed and ignorant manner use as their battering ram.

1. "Japan is superior in technology"
This may be perhaps a little bit of an overstatement, Whether you are talking about America being less advanced or Great Britain and other countries being less advanced is perhaps a very stupid thing to say. If you are a stereotypical "JaFan" (My term for overzealous Japan fans) then you would not be complete without this statement. What you need to understand is in regards to technology, absolutely all nations differ in levels of "advancement". For example, Japan has one of the largest uses of robotics and the creation of robots, They not only have a massive spearhead of tech in that area they are also perhaps the most advanced in the use of robotics. Japan corners the entertainment aspect of robotics which the idea of domestic use of robots is extremely popular. This produces a very good image for their robotics market and increases positive feedback. On the other hand, the US is to aviation as McDonalds is to a cheeseburger (couldn't think of anything else). The United States is the leading power in Aviation technology as well as it's application to military use. Combined with aviation, Robotics also plays a significant roll in the US military. Robotics has a 97% usage in the military as opposed to household service which is about 75%.
Japan is extremely economically healthy and extends to many vast branches in different tech as well, but the above statement would imply that they are the "god" of tech. What I'm trying to say here is that every nation has the edge in one area more than others.(except you Australia, forget you and your koala bears >:U)

2. "Anime is better than American animation"
I don't know if you had heard the news lately but the word "anime" is the term for Animation in japanese. Anime is often used in context in america/Britain/etc.  to refer to "Japanese animated cartoons". Anime is not an art style, which is more what you are aiming for. The Goofy Movie, a classic film from Disney would be considered anime, being an "animated" film. Also, it's not, "American Animation" seeing that the technique is used far and wide by other nations when making films or other things. What seems to be the issue here is that you more or less prefer the art style used in quite a few Japanese animations. This is ok, I'm not saying you cannot be entitled to your opinion, I'm just pissed at the misuse of the word anime because I am of the opinion that it shouldn't be used to describe only Japanese cartoons like Lucky Star or some other show.
I love Japan and everything about it and I love Japanese animation and Manga, I'm not bashing on Japan. Something in my post confusing misspelled or misinformed? Please feel free to point it out and provide sources so that I may correct it.

TL;DR? read it.

Anime (アニメ?, [anime] ( listen); i/ˈænɨmeɪ/ or /ˈɑːnɨmeɪ/) is the Japanese abbreviated pronunciation of "animation". The definition sometimes changes depending on the context.[1] In English-speaking countries, the term most commonly refers to Japanese animated cartoons.[2]
Please note that the links you gave are the English context. "Anime" means animation, it has no actual relation to the art style even though stated as such.
