Author Topic: My Nonno Died Today  (Read 1441 times)

So today on January 27th at 3:00am my Nonno (Grandpa) died from a disease known as Pneumonia. A fact is that 5 years ago on this same day, my Nonna (Grandma) died also. The nurse told us what happened -

"The only part of his body he could move was his left leg. We had to do hourly checks on him and today when I went in I turned on the light and he leaned up and looked at me,  took a big breath and laid back down with a sigh. After that he was gone, almost as if he was ready to be taken."

He has had this disease for some time and he was not that happy that all he could do was lay in his bed and not move. He was only 80 years old.

Rest in peace, Nonno.

Aww. I feel sorry for ya :(
My grandpa died in '05 and my grandmother died in '07
He was on my dad's side and she was on my mother's side. My grandmother died because her brain had dimensia, and my grandfather died of old age :\

80 is a fair age, but nonetheless I'm sorry to hear this tragic news.

Off topic: Why did you call them Nonno/Nonna, is it Grandma/Grandpa in a different language?

He was only 80 years old.
Only 80? Last time I checked, 80 was a pretty long time to live by today's standards.

Sorry to hear this though.

My Grandpa's 87 and has smoked his entire life and suffered a stroke without being effected.

He is immortal.

But, I'm not bragging. My grandpa on my father's side died from p-spot cancer a few years ago, and he was 76. I feel your pain bro.

Don't you mean grandmother?

i call my grandfather nonno aswell :o

That's strange, because:
1. It's pretty gloomy where I live, made me think someone died. :C
2. I call my grandma and grandpa Lola and Lolo, because it's Tagalog, and im Filippino. I just don't have any intention to call them grandma/grandpa. Im just so used to it.

Anyways my grandfathers died before I was born, and one of my grandmothers (my dad's step mother) died shortly after.

Sorry to hear this, Aplem.
:C

That's sad to hear. My condolences for you and your family. At least he's with your grandmother. :)

My grandparents on my dad's side died before I was born. My mom's parents are still alive. Although my aunt on my mom's side died about 8 years ago of cancer.

Sorry for your loss.
