I was wondering how many people knew about this program:
http://scratch.mit.edu/

Basically, you can program anything you want except you don't have to learn a complex Programming language. There a bricks which you can drag on top of each other to create scripts.

Not worth being labeled a programming language since there is literally no code involved, and there appears to be no syntax to it (unless you call a snap-to grid syntax). Therefore, not truly a language.
More or less a toy for people too lazy to learn how to use proper tools to develop software.

A fine tech demo, I guess.

A while ago I found something EXACTLY like this except you could make flash games with it. It was cooler. D:

I used this a lot a few years back.

Fun times.

Full of preteen kids.

We talking about the Scratch community or our own?  :cookieMonster:

But yeah, at my old school, they used this as an introduction to something or other.
I don't recall ever using it in lessons.

This is actually a programming language. A visual programming language, to be precise. And it is aimed toward young kids, who are not able to learn a text-based programming language. Don't call them lazy, I doubt an 8 year old could understand the simplest code written in Java. In fact, Scratch helps them understand. It is much easier to start with something much easier and clear than to instantly start coding

It's like eventing, but for not-blockland.

Yeah I've seen this before. Couldn't really make it out how the program works so i uninstalled it.

Introduction to computer programming a few years back
fun  :cookieMonster:

My computer teacher in middle school used to make us make projects and stuff with it...I hated it, it's so cheap...

We got taught this in 7th grade and mine was the one of the top 3 projects so I got to go to these conventions in Hershey and Harrisburg.

To be honest, the "programming" is almost exactly like Blocklands.

Eventing, yes, programming, hell no

I take this as a class during the summer. Mostly just  abunch of diiots who think they can make call of duty using scratch, but it's still fun times.
