Gimp transparency works no mores :C

So forevers ago i could just make a transd avatar on gimp and it would work fine (.png) but over the last few months i have done everything the same but it has a black background instead of being trans (blockland forums only), help me computer people!!!

is it bigger than 75x75 when you upload it?
i've heard if it's transparent and bigger than 75x75 when you upload it it'll make the background black.
