Author Topic: Is blockland a toy or is it like rayman?  (Read 2322 times)

I seem to feel like I am the only one that believes Blockland is a game based off Lego toys while everyone else thinks it's something else. What do you think?

I know people have different tastes and opinions.

Its not a flaw just a suggestion. But maybe you could try adding a blockish gear and chain, like this.

Now let me put this into perspective for you.

It's a lego toy.

phydeoux don't listen to Smokesta, don't add anymore detail.
No it's not.
It's very similar. But it's not.
Not it's not! It's a loving set of colored pixels on your computer screen!
Take your lego stuff somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure Blockland was originally based on Legos.

First off:
stop stirring stuff up

Second:
Blockland can be as real or fake as anyone wants it to be. i.e: Gravity Cat's weapon pack and the lego blasters set

it doesn't loving matter

It's a discussion topic. You wouldn't know stirring stuff if it bite you on the ass.

Second:
It's a discussion topic, that's the entire point.

I think the main theme of Blockland may be of some kid's toys "gone wild" or something. How ever, it depends on how you potray the game. Such as, a freebuild in the bedroom, or some realistic zombie survival or deathmatch.

On another note, "stirring stuff up". Seriously!?

And now that I think about it...
Yeah, the blockhead looks very close to Rayman, but I don't think I've seen anyone dressed like him, that I remember.

"Blockland is an online multiplayer game where you build things with bricks.
It's like playing with legos on the internet."

It is a game based on LEGOs. Case closed.

I think the fact that we have floating limbs is what throws people off. We look like Rayman, we don't look very toy-like. You have notice when people add hands on guns they stretch the hands out like a rayman character.

Well...

Considering that the models in Blockland are extremely low-poly, I guess it would be more logical to assume us as toys. Not to mention the... unnatural colors that blockheads and their creations can tend to be.

Colorsets took care of that.

True, and that brings me back to where I said that it depends on how you portray the game. I remember you hosting your community project featuring a build resembling that of a real kid's creation from actual Legos that he had in his room. Then you have things like intense deathmatches, zombie survival, and what not that just may not give Blockland that "toy" feeling, but instead, give it a more "semi-lifelike" appeal.

Also, while on the subject on Rayman in Blockland:

Put in a rayman face and decal.

I've always seen it as a simplified art form where you can actually do stuff with what you create, unlike 3D modeling. Blockland just simplifies the process of using your creations.

Excuse me, sir. Are you laughing at my nose?

Yeah.. totally the best looking Rayman ever. :S

Take out the decal nose, put in the mouth and have someone model a nose to fit on the minifig.

It will look like Ray man.
