Author Topic: Apparently Steam is a virus  (Read 643 times)

So, I was gonna ask a friend for help with a recently downloaded game called "Moonbase Alpha" because this error came up

Then Steam froze, so I exited out of it, and then when I re-launched it a message saying "Updating Steam Platform". I let it do that, and when it got to 99%, this came up.

Please help me with this.

Probably you got a virus from something else, and that infected Steam leading Avast to think it's Steams fault.

I don't know what I could have possibly done to get this virus, but I'm running a full-computer scan now.

Good, if it's infecting things you'll want to get rid of it quickly as possible.

This always happens with a lot of security programs.

Never happened to me, and I've had Steam and avast! for three years.

considering valve is now steampumping code into their service, i wouldn't doubt that one of them would snag on the security when the whole steam network is overloaded with code going through

I would think it's the middle two.

why do all you noobs block out your user name?
