Hey everyone! I want to host a LAN server for my little brother because he is going to be buying the game sometime this week and i already have it. but he cant wait to play with me, so i want to host a LAN server. BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT! my desktop computer it connect to the local area connnection. and my laptop is connected to the wireless network (but on the same router). And i want to host the server from my laptop, so i started a lan server and tried doing query lan on the demo on my desktop computer. but it didnt find it :( what do i do!!

First of all, you only need one copy of the game to play online if you are in the same house. Just use the same key on both computers.

And try doing that in reverse, with the desktop computer hosting and the laptop joining.

You must be in the same house, on the same network for this to work.
Your client: Start a Game > LAN Game > Launch Game
Demo client: Join a Game > Query LAN > Click on Game > Join

okay i alreayd know all that. and im connected to the same router. but it wont show up in the server list. im clicking query LAN servers. but nothing shows up

You have to be connected to the same access point.

two computers cant have the same ip :/

Make sure that the computers you want to join are on the same network as well.
