Its mostly nostalgia and skiing that's keeping us away from accepting the new update entirely.

Let's make a giant pile of computers filled with interiors and terrain maps, and then light then on fire as they are running.

It's like the editor wand all over again. People argued that you could create tons of cool stuff like graffiti with it, but the main argument was that stretched bricks look like absolute stuff and lagged like hell. And look what happened? The whiniest people bitched and moaned, then left or decided to suck it up and learn to enjoy the core game that they were playing for the past couple of years.

Granted, the editor wand led the way to tons of awesome stuff, but in the end it was primitive and not needed with many of the game's mechanics changing. However, the core game isn't changing, and that's something people are forgetting. It's "that game where you build stuff", not "that game where you jet around a premade map for an hour" (I'm guilty).

Once I jetted around a map for an hour and found some words in a mountain side, I don't remember the map though :c

People want to keep these maps for something you shouldn't actually be doing in a game like this.
