Yeah, today's society idolizes people who do bad things. Odds are that the veteran helped to ensure the freedom of these kids, and then they randomly beat him up? What the forget?
They claimed he said he was going to beat them up, which is probably a load of crap. It was probably just a heated argument and they said something to which he replied with "I'll kick your ass", then they took that out of context and used it as an excuse to attack him.
Which is another thing, they literally just hunted him down and beat the stuff out of him for the stupidest (and probably fake) reason.
